WORLD SQUASH DAY 2019

The inaugural World Squash Day at VRC is successfully in the books!

We had 39 players playing in 4 divisions in both singles and doubles. To make sure that everyone got the most amount of games possible we had all games played as best of 3 and we managed to run ahead of schedule the entire day!

Congratulations to the newbies who played in their first tournament and to ALL the players and winners. Special shout out to Leo Chester who played both divisions, won the Cornett division, and definitely played the most matches! Thanks also to Glen for the libations and to everyone for the birthday cake and card.

Squash Republic would like to thank Andrew Mount and the Vancouver Racquets club for allowing us to present Vancouver’s first World Squash Day event and the first ONE DAY ONLY squash tournament on Saturday, October 12, 2019. It was a total blast and we’re already planning for 2020’s event! Mark the date for next year’s event on your calendar: Saturday, October 10, 2020 or 10/10/20.

We’d also like to send a HUGE THANK YOU to Alan Thatcher, the founder of World Squash Day. He has single-handedly been driving this non-profit event since the beginning and tirelessly promoting the game of squash. I’m very proud to be a part of his team.
